Colour Thread

Cut up some shapes from lots of different coloured fabric and cardboard, cut holes in the middle and get your little one to thread them onto the matching coloured straw or pipe cleaner whilst saying the colour in English.

Preparation time: 5 minutes (only need to do it once)

Activity lasts: 10 minutes

What you need:

Scraps of fabric, felt, cardboard in different colours | Pipe cleaners or straws in different colours | Scissors | Container (optional, but good to keep everything together)

Preparation:

Cut out small pieces of fabric, felt or cardboard in lots of different colours and then cut a small slit in the middle of each shape, so that it can be threaded onto the straw or pipe cleaner.

The activity:

Show your child each pipe cleaner or straw and say or encourage them to say what colour it is in English. Then pass them the pot of shapes that you cut and ask them to match up the colours, (show them how to thread the shape onto the straw or pipe cleaner). Every time they thread a shape encourage them to say the colour (in English) out loud.
